PROJECT:
Waitoa Dairy Factory Fire Water System Upgrade.
MTL ROLE:
MTL was engaged by Fonterra to provide engineering services for the upgrade of Waitoa’s fire water pump station and replacement of end of life buried fire water pipework. MTL’s role included the detailed hydraulic analysis, design specification and commissioning for the upgrade works.
During the design phase constraints in the existing system were identified that could be removed to improve available firefighting flow and pressure from the site hydrants.
PROJECT OUTCOME:
The new system is more energy efficient and meets the requirements of SNZ PAS 4509. The pumping system and ring-main pipework was successfully commissioned in 2015 and met the performance requirements set by the client.
